FROM THE CHAIR 4

.

THE SEASON KICKS OFF THIS SATURDAY!

The pitches are looking magnificent, the posts have been painted, the balls are pumped up, the smell of Ralgex is in the air,…………….it can only mean one thing! The BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!

This Saturday sees The Blues kick off the new season in National League 1 at Priory Park against the famous Richmond FC from South West London. The match is preceded by a “Family Fun Day” and entry to both the match and fun day is free before 2.00pm.

That dramatic day in Darlington is a distant memory and we have an entirely new team in charge of rugby at Macc for the start of the season. Giles Heagerty is the new head coach, ably assisted by Tom Eaton and Dave Marwick, a new skipper in Mike Finnemore, with Chris Jones in charge of fitness and conditioning. The new season also sees a new position – Team Manager – a post filled by a newcomer to Macc, Howard Hughes. I`m sure you`d all like to join me in wishing the new team the very best of luck and in welcoming Howard to Macclesfield. There are a few `old faces` still around with Mike and Karen charged with looking after the injuries, assisted by another newcomer to MRUFC, Grace.

Come to Priory Park in a Macclesfield rugby shirt and be entered into the draw to win the signed match ball

Places are available for the buffet prior to k.o. at 2.00 priced at £5.00 – please contact Bev to book your place.

This will the first genuine opportunity to see the new coaching teams ideas put into a competitive game, and for players new and old, to put down their marker for the season.

Come down to Priory Park and bring your passion, bring your noise, bring your mates, bring your Blues shirt, bring your support and bring anyone else you can to get behind your team.  Don`t forget, all under 16`s are admitted free even after 2.00

This season sees the introduction of `Man of the Match` awards for each home game, with the Claphams Landscapes award (an engraved glass tankard) awarded to the Macc M.O.T.M. and a crate of Joseph Holt`s beer, awarded to the away teams best player.

AWARD FOR ONE OF OUR SPONSORS

Dedication to quality pays off for The Saffron Room

“More than simply a place to eat” . . . that was restaurateur Sanaam Ahamed’s philosophy when he opened The Saffron Room at the former renowned White House in the Cheshire village of Prestbury.

“Our chefs are passionate about creating top quality dishes with produce and ingredients from regional growers and producers,” he says.

Now this dedication has been rewarded with The Saffron Room achieving Highest Quality Assured Taste Accreditation from Taste Northwest in association with Quality in Tourism and Visit England.

“We strongly support this initiative that champions the whole experience of dining out,” says Sanaam.

“We believe it’s important for consumers to understand where to go for a memorable meal and Taste Accreditation will help them identify us as having achieved the Highest Quality Assured rating.

“Our aim is to continuously provide our valued customers with the highest quality food and service in Prestbury and the wider region.”

The Saffron Room joins other successfully accredited dining venues in the North West and can distinguish itself to customers with a presence on www.tastenw.co.uk as well as Taste Northwest’s mark of quality promoting quality assurances in food and service.

It will also be promoted further through Taste Northwest’s partnership with organizations like the Liverpool Enterprise Partnership and Marketing Cheshire, to attract food lovers looking for a quality dining experience across the North West

“We’re pleased to showcase great eateries such as The Saffron Room that offer great food combined with an inviting environment and a commitment to excellent customer service – an all-round winner for food lovers,” says Mark Loynton, Managing Director of Taste Northwest.

Additionally, The Saffron Room will now be able to take part in Taste Northwests’ Talented Young Chef and Host initiative by hosting a dinner, helping promote young people in the industry.

The assessment criteria for securing the Taste Accreditation and Loves Local Awards is based on the quality of food, use of locally and regionally sourced produce and ingredients, as well as excellent customer service.

Scoring is based on:

  • First and last impressions of the exterior
  • Bar and restaurant facilities and décor
  • Cleanliness in all areas
  • Hospitality and service efficiency
  • Food quality and presentation
  • Imaginative creative dishes using seasonal produce
  • Use and mention of locally or regionally sourced produce

Don`t forget!……………MRUFC members receive 10% discount Mon – Thursday (not including takeaways) at the Saffron Room.
