THRILLER AT THE PARK

Macclesfield Blues were unable to secure the elusive win at Priory Park that they so desperately wanted on Saturday, despite scoring 5 tries.  Cinderford proved to be just to powerful in the pack and ran out 31 -44 winners to bag 5 invaluable points for the team from Gloucestershire.  Despite the defeat, The Blues played some fantastic rugby and scored some scintillating tries – one superb individual effort from Ollie Fewtrell really sticks in the memory.  It`s been a tough, uncompromising season for The Blues squad and it doesn`t get any easier with an away trip to the famous Richmond Club in London next week, to finish off a disappointing season.

The match on Saturday was the last as a Blues player in front of a home crowd for club stalwart Chris Jones, who is assisting Giles with the coaching next season,  the last as 4th official for Albert Simpson and also the final match at Priory Park for Caron Doyle in her role as Head of Rehabilitation. I`m sure you`d like to join me in thanking all 3 for their services and in wishing them well for the future.

 LIONS MAUL TIGERS

Macclesfield Lions (2nd XV) came from behind to completely overwhelm title rivals Sedgely Tigers on Saturday by 40 points to 11, to be in touching distance of the League title.  A home win against Caldy on Saturday is all that stands in their way, so if you`re not going down to leafy Richmond on this weekend, come to Priory Park and see the Lions take the title – kick off 3.00pm – entry free.

 3rds CROWNED CHAMPIONS

Macclesfield 3rds thrashed Northwich 2nds by 76 – 5 to take the title and win promotion, smashing through the 1,000 points scored barrier in the process.  Congratulations to Skipper Nick Smith and everyone else who contributed to the success………well done all!

4ths FINISH IN FINE FETTLE!

The 4ths/Vets finished the season in style by seeing of Crewe & Nantwich at Priory Park by 44 -14 to finish the season in a creditable 4th place.  Well done to Jason Walker, Boz and the numerous players who have turned out for the 4ths this season……..many of them Vets having one last fling!

RUGBY THIS WEEKEND

The Blues finish a gruelling 30 game season down at Richmond on Saturday, we wish them well and hope they can finish on a well deserved high with a victory.  As mentioned, The Lions take on Caldy at Priory Park and a win will see them crowned Champions……..come down and give them your support, they play some fantastic rugby.

The 3rds & 4ths are now enjoying a well earned break and will hopefully be down at Priory Park to cheer on The Lions.

A.G.M. May 20th

Notice is hereby given that the A.G.M. is to be held on Wednesday May 20th 7.00pm.

UNDER 14`S 7`S TOURNAMENT

Macclesfield are hosting a 7 a side festival on Sunday 17th May at Priory Park, a game for young bloods apparently played on a full sized pitch with only 7 players each side !!  We have 16 teams playing including sides from Barrow in Furness, Coventry and even Kent !! That is 192 players at the club, almost as many players that played in Mark Marshall’s last game.

We could do with some help on the day manning the car park from approx 8:15 until approx 10:30

If you could give up a few hours to help out on the car park that would be great – please contact Robert Oliver robert_oliver05@tiscali.co.uk

4TH OFFICIAL REQUIRED

After too many seasons to remember, Albert Simpson is hanging up his track suit for the final time this Saturday.  Albert tried to retire from the position of 4th Official a couple of seasons back, but stayed on (Thankfully) as we were unable to find a replacement for this key role.  I`d like to take this opportunity to say `Thank You` to Albert for his sterling work as 4th Official over the last few seasons – Albert, we appreciate the great job you`ve done and wish you well in `retirement`.

This clearly means we are looking for a replacement as 4th Official for Home Games, something we are required to supply, so if you are interested in filling this vitally important position please e-mail me peter@maccrugby.co.uk. I believe Albert has volunteered to steer the `new boy` (or girl!)  in the right direction for the first weeks.

Message sent by

Action Fraud (Action Fraud, Administrator, National)

Apologies if you have previously received this alert; however as stated below, this alert will be re-sent regularly leading up to the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Action Fraud, together with the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau and the City of London Police, are working in partnership with Rugby World Cup 2015 organisers to disrupt those entities seeking to sell Rugby World Cup 2015 tickets without permission from the official provider. We would like rugby fans and the general public to be aware that they should only purchase tickets from official sources and avoid being scammed. Purchase tickets from an official source and avoid losing your money.

  • England Rugby 2015 Limited (“ER2015”) is the organising committee of Rugby World Cup 2015, due to take place in England and Cardiff from 18 September 2015 until 31 October 2015. Rugby World Cup Limited (“RWCL”) is the Tournament owner of Rugby World Cup 2015.
  • RWCL/ER2015 wants to ensure that the public is not misled, by unauthorised ticket sellers, into believing they have purchased genuine Rugby World Cup 2015 tickets.

Where can you buy official match tickets?

Where can you buy Official ticket-inclusive hospitality packages?

  • These can only be purchased through the official hospitality programme, operated by Rugby Travel & Hospitality Ltd (“RTH”) at www.rugbyworldcup.com/hospitality.

Where can you buy Official ticket-inclusive Supporter Tours (i.e. travel packages)?

How do you ensure that you are buying Rugby World Cup 2015 match tickets, supporter tours or hospitality packages from an official channel?

  • To check whether a company or a certain website is an official Rugby World Cup 2015 channel, use the ‘Official Checker’ tool which is located at www.rugbyworldcup/buyofficial.

Can you buy official Rugby World Cup 2015 tickets, supporter tours or hospitality packages elsewhere, other than as outlined above?

  • There is no guarantee that Rugby World Cup 2015 tickets (and/or ticket inclusive packages) purchased from any source other than RWCL, ER2015, RTH  (or those listed above) are genuine tickets (and/or ticket-inclusive packages).
  • Fans who purchase tickets and/or ticket-inclusive packages from unauthorised sellers run the risk of paying over the odds for a non-existent ticket, ending up disappointed by not getting to see the match they paid to see, and risk having their personal and credit card details stolen for use in other crimes.

Points to note about unauthorised activity:

  • It has been shown from the 2012 Olympics and other major events in the UK that ticket touts are often linked with other forms of criminality.
  • The unauthorised sale, or offer for sale, of Rugby World Cup 2015 tickets (and/or ticket-inclusive packages) may constitute an infringement of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 or Fraud.
  • All official Rugby World Cup 2015 tickets are subject to ER2015’s ticket terms and conditions, located at: http://www.rugbyworldcup.com/ticketing/t-c
