BLUES DOWN LIONS IN THEIR LAIR

Last Saturday saw Leicester Lions proud unbeaten run, going back to last season, finally brought to an end by a Macc side made to work hard for their victory.  The Lions came out of the blocks and immediately laid down a marker with an early score before The Blues eventually overcame a very steely, determined and committed home side who were desperate to defend their proud home record.  Tries from Matt King, finishing off a fine team move, an individual gem from Lewis Barker, and a fine run in by Josh Fowles, plus 5 points from the boot of Lewis Barker, ensured the win.

This match was always going to be a tough away game, and things don`t get any easier this Saturday when the Macc Lads travel to Otley for a rearranged match.  The Blues will have to be at their best to beat an Otley side still in with a shout at finishing second.  This will be Blues 3rd road trip in a row and they are desperate to play in front of a home crowd, so make sure you attend the April 2nd fixture against Huddersfield – the first home game since February 27th!!

CLUB MEMORIAL BOARD

As part of our efforts to bring back some of those elements of a rugby club that have drifted a little over the years, we are going to commission a memorial board to recognise those members of the club who have died on active service in conflicts around the world.

We have already identified 12  members who were killed in the second world war (and as part of the club history initiative led by Bob Jenner have found out a lot about their service records and decorations) but we invite you to let us know of anyone who has been killed on active service since then. We would now like to extend that Roll of Honour to include former members who died while on active service in subsequent conflicts.

Clearly this is something that we will address sensitively. If you know of a former member who died whilst in service could you let us know about them and if there are surviving relatives so that we can obtain their consent. The first point of contact should be Bob Jenner (bobjenner@gmail.com or via the Club) in his role as lead of the club history.

Thank you for your help.
