Hogan and Mitchell Physiotherapy are the official Macclesfield RUFC physiotherapists. Their Physiotherapy & Sports injury clinic was founded by Simon Hogan & Ross Mitchell in 2012 and as Macclesfield’s best physiotherapy clinic has been successfully providing private treatments for sports injuries and those with musculoskeletal pain problems since.  Simon & Ross have over 25 years experience and have built a reputation as the ‘go-to’ experts in the local area.  When you go to the clinic you only see Simon or Ross and therefore are guaranteed an expert opinion.  Simon jokes that they are like The A-Team “If you have a problem… if no one else can help… and if you can find them… maybe you can hire… Hogan & Mitchell!”.

Having met at University they have been good friends ever since. Initially having common interests in pain and sport, both developed a desire to provide a highly specialised and personal physiotherapy service to the public and athletes alike in Macclesfield and the surrounding area. Hogan & Mitchell Physiotherapy was born and they haven’t looked back.

The wealth of experience from working in a variety of settings in positions of responsibility including professional sport, specialist NHS roles, occupational health and other private practices are what help stand Hogan & Mitchell Physiotherapy apart from the competition. They offer the best hands on treatment and rehabilitation there is to offer to help get you better quicker.

After both completing Masters degrees in Manual Therapy, Simon and Ross gained accreditation to the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. They are among only 1100 clinicians in the world to hold the internationally recognised and renowned qualification, which is designed to ensure all clients receive an accurate evidence-based diagnosis and management plan..

Each client’s problem is different and understanding the cause and contributing factors to your pain is very important. During an initial consultation, clients are asked to describe and map out symptoms with the use of specific questioning. Further investigation is rarely necessary at this time and a thorough physical examination enables us to deliver an accurate diagnosis. A tailored treatment and rehabilitation plan can then be developed and delivered to alleviate pain fast. The aim is not to simply treat symptoms, but to stop them coming back by dealing with the cause.

Every client should leave knowing what is wrong, what they can do, what anyone else can do to help and how long it will take to improve. Simon and Ross pride themselves on their honest attitude towards their highly specialised service. On the rare occasion that they cannot help, they will say so. Over the years they have built an extensive network of field-leading consultants and expert practitioners, who are at hand should you need further investigation or an opinion regarding surgery. If they cannot help they will know the person that can.

Ross is no stranger to working in rugby as he brings a wealth of experience with him to Macclesfield Rugby Club having worked for St Helens Rugby League Club and Warrington Wolves Rugby League Club. Simon has worked for several years as a spinal and shoulder Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist for the NHS treating patients with problems that did not require surgery, but previous management has failed.

The injury prevention screening offered at the clinic will hopefully ensure Macclesfield Blues head coach Giles Heagerty has a near full complement of players to choose from throughout the season. Screening is helpful for any sportsperson, but particularly children. This combined with video running gait analysis on the treadmill in the clinic should mean you can participate for longer or faster. Issues can be found and corrected early, often through verbal cues, meaning reduced injury risk, improved efficiency and pain can be reduced or eliminated.

Pilates classes are available in the clinic studio for a maximum of 8 clients.  This allows bespoke correction of technique meaning you get the maximum from your efforts. More information is available here

If you are a local business, Hogan & Mitchell Physiotherapy have extensive experience in managing occupational pain and issues for several large Macclesfield based companies. Bespoke work-station assessments and adaptations are available to reduce the need for injury related absence.

The clinic is used to seeing clients who have previously tried physiotherapy elsewhere but have not achieved the pain relief or restoration of function that they set out for.  Please check out the reviews and testimonials here for some client feedback.  We teach other physio’s and try to show clients what IS possible with great physiotherapy and rehab.

Simon and Ross feel everyone should be offered the best advice regardless of age, ability or disability and strive to achieve this every day. So whether it is an acute sports injury or a persistent problem, and whether you are an elite athlete or average Joe, Hogan & Mitchell will get you back on track.
