BLUES OPEN UP A 15 POINT LEAD Macclesfield Blues returned to action at Priory Park on Saturday, for the first time since December 19th, and in front of an expectant home crowd, saw off a determined and spirited Tynedale side.  The bonus point victory, alongside the postponed Sedgley Park game, sees the Macc Lads 15 points clear at the top of National League 2 North, albeit, Sedge have a game in hand.   A hat tick from no. 8 Ryan […]

Macclesfield Blues had Ryan Parkinson to thank for their bonus point win after the back rower picked up a hat trick to extend The Blues’ lead at the top to fifteen points after a very hard fought 33-26 victory over Tynedale. Despite the win, Head Coach Giles Heagerty was left scratching his head at his side’s defensive efforts. “Defensively we’ve got work to do. It’s the first time this season we’ve conceded the four try bonus point, and there were […]

The Blues returned to winning ways last weekend with a 12-32 win away at South Leicester in tricky conditions. Players and staff admitted after the game it was by no means pretty, or the performance they had hoped for but it was great to be back on the pitch after two weeks of enforced down time. Head Coach, Giles Heagerty admitted he expected some rust to creep in, but there were plenty of positives to take from the game. “We […]

On a mild but soggy Sunday morning the Macc squad assembled early and quickly got into a sharp warm up session admirably led by Seargeant Major Elden Burke and the rest of the coaches, in the hope of avoiding the previous few weeks sleepy starts. Macc had a big squad and Ellesmere Port had a flat 12, with one player just showing up in the nick of time before kick-off.

Macclesfield remain ten points clear at the summit of National Two North after a hard fought victory away at 12th placed South Leicester. Former captain Tom Eaton started at fly half for the first time this season with Lewis Barker being unavailable for selection. The two time National Two winner with The Blues felt it was more a case of job done, than a good performance. “We just had to get back to winning ways and kick start the run […]

Macclesfield ensured they kept their lead at the top of National Two North with a bonus point win away at South Leicester in tricky conditions. The Blues were at one stage down to 13 men but a second half brace from substitute Ryan Parkinson ensured Macc travelled back north with five points. Macclesfield Rugby Club have recently been thanked by Kenya based Martin Flanagan for the kit donation they made to schools and orphanages in Kilifi, Kenya. Flanagan moved to Kenya back in 2008 on a search for employment and ran out in the blue of Macclesfield on various occasions in the 70s before his rugby career was ended by injury. Rugby in Kenya is very much a developing sport and the growth has been very much down to the success of […]
