‘Generally in sport you make your own luck, and you do that by working hard’ That‘s the belief of Head Coach, Giles Heagerty. That’s what he told Macclesfield Rugby when he spoke to us earlier this week.
BLUES TAUGHT A LESSON BY RUTHLESS FYLDE Fylde`s most famous son, Bill Beaumont left Priory Park licking his lips at the manner of his club`s ruthless approach to Saturday`s game, a result which left The Blues on the end of a 47-0 defeat, and still yet to register a league point this season. Fylde showed why they finished 3rd last season as they look to make the step up to The Championship next season, scoring 7 tries from maybe 9 […]
Macclesfield Head Coach Giles Heagerty reflected on The Blues’ home hammering at the hands of Fylde. Heagerty felt that his team gifted Fylde a lot of possession, and the visitors did well to convert these chances into points. “That was a masterclass on how to capitalise on a team’s errors. Fylde were ruthless but at the same time we’ve gifted them half of those points, if not more.” “I don’t want to take anything away from them because they scored […]
Travelling to Merseyside, Macclesfield Colts paid dearly for a 20 minute lapse in concentration in defence, letting opponents Waterloo pile on the points at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second. Mike Green scored the only try for the visiting team, earning himself the Man of the Match.
Fylde visited Priory Park this weekend and left with maximum points. The visitors ran out 47-0 winners after making The Blues pay for every mistake they made. Jordan Dorrington scored the second try of his hat trick on 16 minutes. A sublime cross kick from Johnson was taken expertly by Dorrington. On 21 […]

ENCOURAGING START BUT NO POINTS Macclesfield Blues kicked off the season at home to the famous Richmond Club and had a dream start when Josh Fowles touched down just 3 minutes into his first game for the club since the 2012-13 season. However, the loss of big Dean Williams after 20 minutes, together with some familiar and experienced forwards out of contention with injuries (Tom Mantel, Bill Robinson, Dave Marwick and Jonny Kenny) meant the Macc pack were always on […]
Even though they performed well Macclesfield Blues were unable to overcome a strong and determined Richmond side when the teams met at Priory Park last weekend.
Macclesfield Colts started the new season with a straight forward win over Kirkby Lonsdale Colts. Continuity suffered as the newly assembled squad got to know each other, but the Blues had the bulk of the posession and territory and were seldom troubled in defence.
On Sunday 7th Macclesfield RUFC Mini and Junior sides (6’s, 7’s, 8’s and 9’s) welcomed Tommy Taylor, Sam James and of course Sharky down to Priory Park.
