Macclesfield Blues may have come away from Preston Grasshoppers with a bonus point victory, but it certainly couldn’t be said that the victory was easily earned. Preston made the Blues work for every point, but that was hardly surprising in the circumstances: for Preston there was pride at stake, having been soundly beaten when they visited Priory Park in December. The Lightfoot Lane crowd demanded a much better performance this time round, and that’s precisely what they got. For Macclesfield […]
Macclesfield secured a hard fought bonus point away to Preston Grasshoppers. The Blues were made to work extremely hard for their win at Lightfoot Lane. It took 12 minutes for the first score to come and it was the home side who scored. Macclesfield infringed at the breakdown after a period of impressive defence within their own 22. The home side’s fly half slotted the penalty from just outside of the posts. The Blues took a while to settle into […]
It was the type of performance that Head Coach and Director of Rugby, Geoff Wappett, would have wanted on his last game at Priory Park. Macclesfield Blues not only won with some style: they blew away Luctonians in a one-sided contest and comfortably managed to secure the winning bonus point before the half time whistle went. Still, as satisfying as that victory may have been, Macclesfield Blues cannot afford to sit on their laurels just yet.
Elliot Brierley impressed for Macclesfield on Saturday and was one of the star performers in the 59-5 win at Priory Park. As Macclesfield go into the final two games they will be hoping for more star performances from their outside centre. Brierley got the Blues off to a flyer through scoring with just three minutes on the clock. The Blues centre felt this helped the team’s nerves for game. A nice early score for you on the way to another […]
Director of Rugby Geoff Wappett was fairly pleased with Macclesfield’s 59-5 bonus point win in what was his final game at Priory Park/ The Blues won to maintain top spot and keep the pressure up on the chasing pack. 59-5 and another bonus point, what did you make of the performance? For most of the game, we played pretty well. In the last two or three weeks we have had the bonus point secured pretty quickly. This tends to take […]
Macclesfield Blues secured another five points in their final home game of the season. The Blues were dominant from the off and the pack can be very proud of their effort today, turning over consistent ball for the backs to use. The boys in blue would have wanted to do Geoff Wappett and Andy Northey proud today on what was there final home game in charge of the club. The Blues set off at a blistering pace and crossed over […]
The Blues set off at a blistering pace and crossed over after just three minutes. Centre Elliot Brierley crossed with Captain Eaton converting. Not long after Ashley Platt-Hughes finished off an impressive backs move, 14-0. Macclesfield’s pack imposed themselves when a scrum five metres out was driven over for the league’s top try scorer Ryan Parkinson to bag his 32nd of the season, 19-0. Luctonians then got themselves onto the scoreboard with their Captain Jimmy Norris crossing. After 37 […]

Macclesfield welcomed Ellesmere Port to Priory Park on a warm, sunny Mothers Day for the Cheshire Cup semi final. From the kick off Macclesfield were put under early pressure from a number of Ellesmere Port high balls. Despite a passage of nervous Macclesfield play, we were awarded a penalty which was well executed by James Scott, giving us an early 3 -0 lead.
