A ladies day hosted by Macclesfield Rugby Club has raised £526 for the Breast Cancer campaign. The pink-themed pre-match lunch, which took place before The Blues took on Cambridge R.U.F.C. on Saturday 21st January, saw Macclesfield’s rugby ladies joined by their partners at Priory Park to raise much needed funds for the national cancer charity.
More than 90 guests enjoyed a sumptuous four course meal while the ladies sipped pink champagne. A raffle with prizes generously donated by local firms raised money for the charity which works to beat breast cancer by funding innovative world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.
Prizes on the day included gym membership at Fitness 4 All in Bollington, a pink Pandora charm bracelet donated by PR Jones Jewellers Chestergate, a round of golf for four people at Mottram Hall and perfumes from Chestergate Cosmetics.
Bill Roberts, Commercial and General Manager for Macclesfield Rugby Club commented; “This event has been a great success and we were thrilled with the turnout with the lunch completely selling out well in advance. The atmosphere was fantastic and we’re pleased with the funds we’ve managed to raise for this very worthy cause.”
Dawn Grover, support care manager for Breast Cancer Campaign added; “It is wonderful to see the effort Macclesfield Rugby Club has put in to making Ladies Day a success and we would like to thank everybody involved for their generosity. The money raised will help the charity fund vital research into the disease”.
The day was rounded off nicely as guests watched The Blues continue their good run, beating Cambridge 43 – 19 to claim victory.
