Macclesfield Tigers win the Skegness Tigers Under 9s Challenge Festival

All might not be going according to script for Macclesfield Blues, but as far as Macclesfield Under 9s are concerned, it really couldn’t be going much better. Three of our Under 9s teams recently competed in the Skegness Tigers Challenge Festival. The Festival was supported by Leicester Tigers and organized by ESF Sports Events. The festival proved to extremely popular and attracted teams from all areas of the UK, including St. Ives, Sunderland, and Dunfermline.  It always good to take part in competitions like this, as playing in a more national pool gives you the opportunity to objectively assess standards.

The group stages were played on the Saturday, and 2 of the Macclesfield Under 9s teams won their respective groups. This meant that Macclesfield Tigers progressed to the main cup competition, and Macclesfield Lions progressed to the shield.  Both teams acquitted themselves well, with Macclesfield Tigers winning the main cup competition, and Macclesfield Lions coming 3rd overall. The presentations were made by former All Black and Leicester back row, Craig Newby.

Overall it was a great day out for the teams, and everyone involved had fun. Well done boys – keep up the good work.
