Macc U12’s Sign off the season in Style Winning the Manchester 7’

Macclesfield Under 12’s won the prestigious Manchester 7 a side tournament. They beat Didsbury, Heaton Moor, Bowden & Shrewsbury, only losing to a very good Flyde side in the group stages. This meant they qualified for the semi- final as runners up.

In the semi they played the Kent Country Champions, Sidcup (who had not lost all season !). Macclesfield Blew them away winning 26 – 7. The Sidcup coach said that Macc were the best side he has played all season.

In the final they faced the undefeated Flyde. The game was a tense one but with Tries from Harry Oliver, Ben Sleath and Oscar Johnson Macc ran out winners 21pts to 14pts.

The trophy was presented to the Captain Will Davies by England and Lions star Ben Young’s. The lads all wished him well in Australia (as did a few Mums !!).

During the day Macc scored 24 tries and only conceded 6 tries – not bad for 7’s

No need to panic as it seems the club’s future is in safe hands. !!

Mention must go to the whole squad as everyone played their part.

Jack F for his massive improved fitness and passing. Some superb runs and did not panic on the ball once

James W for his great running, scrumaging and tackling. Again work really hard in defence and attack to support players

James O for putting up with his Dad and really annoying the opposition by smashing them backwards

Ross McGlone for tackling everything and winning soooo much ball

Harry O (yes in the forwards…… food for thought for next season Hmm ???) for causing absolute panic in the opposition

Zak for some great running and passing. What a try in the semi’s when he broke blind. Tackled all day like Mike Phillips !! (Matt B one for you matey !!)

Will for being in the middle of everything and some great Drop kicks, runs and superb passing

Ben Sleath for his great running with the ball, pace and power (oh & Tony he tackled everything brilliantly!!)

Danny Briggs for being his usual fabulous self, running, passing, Tackling – great play

Charlie Fogg who knocked over every opposition player and did some great passes – Good job Charlie

Oscar who was the quickest player in the tournament and scored some brilliant tries and defence was superb (and ran round the Country sprint Champion from Kent !!)

Eden – what a great day you had, tackled brilliantly, superb running and great passing

Special thanks to Matt Bowden & Rob Davies who gave up huge amounts of time to help coach the little fellas.

Kate Walton, the Physio was busy all day putting everyone back together although Ben Youngs looked worried when she threw herself at him !

A great weekend for our U15s who travelled to tough rivals Wilmslow. Usually coming off on the losing side, this team have been working hard on their development with coaches, and it shows with a final score Wilmslow 5 - 40 Macclesfield.
