Caldy Colts 23 – 11 Macclesfield Colts

Macclesfield Senior Colts travelled to Paton Field to take on Caldy in the first round of the Raging Bull Colts League Cup. Despite being two leagues below their opponents, the Blues gave Caldy an early scare, spending long periods in their twenty two, coming away with two Ollie Aston penalties. The Blues maintained a lead for the first thirty minutes, nearly extending it further when George pounced on a loose ball at a lineout on his own twenty two. George set off down the pitch, breaking a couple of tackles and swerving his way to the opposition twenty two, until his progress was halted.  Chris, Ben, Cam and Lloyd all broke into the opposition twenty two on a number of occasions, but the Blues could not convert any further chances, until the last play, when Man of the Match Ben Hadfield powered over from close range for a consolation try.
