Not Many Have the Prospect of Winning a League

Elliot Brierley impressed for Macclesfield on Saturday and was one of the star performers in the 59-5 win at Priory Park. As Macclesfield go into the final two games they will be hoping for more star performances from their outside centre.

Brierley got the Blues off to a flyer through scoring with just three minutes on the clock. The Blues centre felt this helped the team’s nerves for game.

A nice early score for you on the way to another bonus point win, how important was that?

“It’s always nice to score whatever time in the game but I suppose it’s nice to score early to settle into the game. We knew what we needed to do and the same goes for the last two games”

Preston away next week, how tough will that game be?

“Preston should not be underestimated. They gave us a good game at our place earlier in the season and we will need to be focused again on securing five points.”

Are you looking forward to the challenge of Darlington on the final day of the season?

“Yes very much so. Not many have the prospect of winning a league in a rugby career and as long as we keep our heads down and play our own game, I’m positive the trip to DMP will prove to be successful.“

Today was Geoff and Andy’s final home game with the club, how good have they been for the club?

“Both have been great for the club. They have led Macclesfield to the highest level the club has been too and the boys are grateful for that. It was nice to play some good rugby and get a result on their last home game for the club.”
