It’s One of Those Do or Die Games

Macclesfield flanker Cameron Neild was one of the star performers in the Blues’ last game away at Preston Grasshoppers. After enjoying a weekend off, the relatively new face in the changing room is relishing the opportunity that faces them this coming Saturday.

The Blues travel to Darlington where there fate will be decided for next season. Macclesfield know that if they win then it will guarantee their promotion into the National league 1. Cameron added:

“It’s one of those do or die games”

The preparation for this match has been slightly different in the fact that Macc have had two weeks to prepare for the fixture and Neild felt that this has given the team an opportunity to freshen up and do all the required preparation work for the match.

“We have had two weeks between games, this has given the lads a chance to refresh with some time off in preparation for the big week ahead. Also fitness has been toned down in an attempt to keep the lads fresh and lots of time is going into good match preparation.”

Cameron has belief that the Blues can go to Darlington and come away with a positive result but knows that Macclesfield must not underestimate their opponents. Darlington boast a 100% home record and are coming up against Macclesfield’s 100% away record so both teams are going into the game relatively evenly matched.

“Obviously being top of the league and already beating them this season i imagine we go into the game as favourites but we have no intention of getting ahead of ourselves. We understand that nothing else except a win is acceptable this weekend”

Cameron and the rest of the team will have plenty of motivation going into this weekend with also a fantastic travelling support. All the players know what is at stake and will be doing all within their power to do the Macclesfield badge proud.

“I am really excited for this weekend i have only recently joined Macclesfield and have loved every second so far. Seeing what it means to the other lads that have been playing here for ages has got me really excited about the game and has given me an understanding of what it means to the lads, the club and everyone else involved in the club. I will go out there with 100% commitment to not letting my team mates down.”
