BLUES STILL LOOKING FOR FIRST POINTS
Macclesfield Blues took the long journey South on Saturday to face League leaders and promotion favourites Ealing Trailfinders and although they played some good rugby and showed 100% commitment, the result was inevitable given the gulf in playing budgets and strength of squads – Ealing have 32 full time professionals.
This Saturday sees Macclesfield play host to the once mighty Coventry who have designs on a return to their glory days when they were the dominant club in English rugby back in the 70`s. We need your support, we need your commitment and we need you to come down and get behind the team. A couple of results could easily turn things around and give the boys a much needed confidence boost.
You may be aware that at the last AGM, Micky Jones was made an Hon. Life Vice President in recognition of his tireless work and commitment to the annual Beer Festival held at the rugby club. Micky has organised this event for 20 years and has raised in the region of £200,000 for the club, and more than 3 times that amount for local charities. The pre-match lunch this Saturday will see Micky receiving his club blazer as reward for his fantastic efforts. There are still places left at the lunch if you`d like to attend and wish Mr Macclesfield all the best.
The 3 course meal ispriced at £15 plus usual entry fees – please book with Bev.

MINI & JUNIOR SECTION DAY
Saturday March 7th sees the inaugural Mini, Junior Day at Priory Park, where we hope to promote this extremely important section of our club. There will be a pre-match lunch (each age group is asked to fill a table of 9) and various other `activities`and procedes from raffles, auctions etc will go to the MJ section.
If you`d like to assist in organising this event, please contact either;
Angela Aggersbury; firstname.lastname@example.org or Rob Oliver Robert.Oliver@virginmoney.com to offer your services.
It seems we are always looking for volunteers, money, support, etc. but that`s what makes the club tick. As we now have another huge area of grass to maintain, cut, fertilise etc., the current ground staff are struggling to cope with the amount of work involved in ensuring all teams can play rugby and football each week, as well as train midweek and Sundays. If you feel you could lend a hand by giving a few hours each week (no experience required), please let Bev or Bill in the office know. I`m told the guys who currently turn out week after week, have a bit of craic and have great pride in their work, so why not join them and help your club.
Membership fees are due NOW, so please help your club and ensure prompt payment. We are again offering a complimentary season ticket to all Senior Playing Members who pay by October 31st 2014.
Mini/Junior and Football members receive 2 complimentary match day tickets if paid by October 31st.
Please feel free to e mail any news, items etc. related to the Rugby Club (to; email@example.com) and if appropriate, I`ll be happy to add to this column.
All The Best,
Chairman Macclesfield MRUFC
