BLUES BEATEN AT BLACKHEATH
Macclesfield Blues came second best to “The Club” at Rectory Field, Blackheath on Saturday where they were beaten by a scoreline of 34-0…. a score which flattered the home side. The Blues were extremely competitive throughout the match and were only 3 points down until right on the half time whistle, when Club scored a try. Macc came out for the second half hoping to reduce the deficit but came up against a superbly organised, committed and well marshalled defence which in the end, proved to be impenetrable.
So The Blues still have to register a point in what is an extremely tough league, however, as was pointed out by the Blackheath Coach, following Saturdays game against Rosslyn Park, Macc will have played every team in the top 9 of the table. (It would have been all 10 but D.M.P. had 5 points deducted) and haven`t yet had the chance to play a team in the bottom 6. A couple of wins against some of these teams will soon see The Blues move up the table, so please get behind your team and come and support the boys…………..your support is really appreciated by the guys on the pitch.

SUPPORT FOR THE BLUES
Pictured below are 6 elegantly attired `Alickadoos` supporting the Blues at `The Club` on Saturday. I`d like to personally thank everyone who travels away to support the Blues, particularly those on the Exec. Committee who incur not inconsiderable costs to go and show their support (Transport to far-flung places, beer, hotels, beer, blazers, beer, wine, beer) week after week. If anyone else would like to spread the burden and attend, please don`t hesitate to put your name forward – the more the merrier! Thanks go to Alan Johnson, John Davies & wife who went to `Club` on Saturday and it was nice to catch up with a former Macc player in Dick Barton, who was at both the Ealing and Blackheath games.
Around Priory Park last Saturday;
As mentioned above, The Blues travelled to the oldest open Rugby Club in the world and went down 34-0, The Lions travelled the short distance to Stockport and won convincingly by 66-0, the 3rds also thrashed the same club by the incredible margin of 107 – 3 (how did they manage to score 3?!), the 3rds went away to top of the table Marple , and and won by 27 – 23 whilst the Colts beat Newcastle by 11-10 with the last kick of the match.
This week`s fixtures for Macc teams are as follows
Blues v Rosslyn Park – Home 3.00 pm KO
Lions v Chester – Away 2.15 pm KO
3′s v Warrington – Away 2.15 pm KO
4′s v – Lymm – Homey 1.00 pm KO N.B. the kick off time for the 4ths is 1.00 in order that they can support the 1st team (thanks guys, appreciated)

The MRUFC Christmas Lunch is to be held on December 6th for the visit of Wharfedale. Unfortunately, due to the way the fixtures have fallen, this is the last home match before Christmas, however, hopefully it means more people will be able to attend before other Christmas functions take over. There will be some fantastic raffle and auction prizes, plus believe it or not……………..Santa Claus himself will be in attendance! Book your place early as we have already taken bookings for 5 tables plus a few individual bookings!!
We will shortly be distributing the RFU raffle tickets for EACH AND EVERY MEMBER TO SELL. 90% of the takings – potentially £9,000!!! – goes to the club and ALL MONEY raised will be allocated to a specific project to improve the facilities at the club NOT TOWARDS PLAYERS WAGES as is a popular misconception. We are in desperate need of funds to prolong the life of the astro turf in order that it can keep producing much needed income for the club. The newly laid pitches require better drainage and care. To repair the astro turf and upgrade the playing pitches will cost in the region of £6,000…………… We average around £3,000 each year in ticket sales, (which means only 1 in 3 of our members are pulling their weight) and need twice that to carry out these essential works. Please ensure you sell your allocation as you can see how desperate we are for the money.
A CHRISTMAS TREAT!
Paul Bartle (club member and teacher at Kings School) and Fred Taylor (2nd team & Colts coach) are organising a try festival for Tuesday 23rd December when a Macclesfield Select take on a Kings Former Pupils team under the lights at Priory Park. It will fun, fast & furious! Kick off time and final details to be decided, but put in your diary now!

If anyone is wondering why there are no reports etc from the Mini/Junior section in the weekly newsletter, I`m afraid the answer is simple – I don`t receive any information to put forward. If you want your team to be mentioned, a tournament promoted or whatever it may be, please, please send me the details and I`ll gladly publish. I just need the information before end of play Tuesdays.
CAN YOU HELP?
Not had any suggestions yet ……………if you have an idea, please let me know; email@example.com
No, we`re not asking for money, volunteers or donations (well not in this section!) but can you put a year/season to this photo? I seem to recall the new shirts being advertised on the wall at the old Tytherington clubhouse when I was a youngster, and the fuss they caused as they resembled Rugby League shirts of the day!
