SCINTILLATING DISPLAY OF ATTACKING RUGBY ENDS IN 6 TRIES
Macclesfield Blues finished a gruelling 30 game season at Richmond on Saturday in a thrilling display of Barbarian style rugby from both sides. The Blues showed some fantastic attacking flair and no little skill in scoring 6 fantastic tries against their illustrious hosts, but still ended up on the wrong end of the result. Both teams played some scintillating rugby in perfect conditions, with the Richmond pacemen making the difference between the 2 sides, but with The Blues taking the honours for team work and attacking skills…. some of the offloading and backing up was sublime.
If this is a sign of the kind of rugby we can expect at Priory park next season, I for one, can`t wait for September to come around. Giles has completely transformed the attacking options for The Blues and National league 2 sides had better watch out.
LIONS TAKE THE TITLE, BUT CHEATED OF ONE LAST GAME
The Lions ended up as Bateman BMW League Champions on Saturday, but not as they had wanted to with Caldy `crying off` on Friday evening to leave the Lions and their supporters frustrated. Still, by all accounts, they made the best of a bad job and had a great afternoon and evening celebrating. Congratulations to Zack, Fred and all the rest of the team………great season!
GILES ANNOUNCES NEW SIGNINGS
Yesterday, Head Coach Giles Heagerty has made his intentions clear for next season by announcing the signing of 2 key forwards – in former Priory Park favourite, Ryan Parkinson and huge Prop Marshall Gadd, who has signed from Championship side Rotherham.
Ryan spent last season with Sedgley Park but is relishing the chance to play for The Blues this coming campaign. Season 2013 -14 saw Ryan lead the National Leagues with 30+ tries for the Blues

Marshall, who has played at Rotherham for the past 3 seasons following spells with Manchester (when they were in the Championship) and Moseley, is joining Macclesfield as a player coach, bringing with him, his vast knowledge and experience of forward play at Championship level.

Both players are key signings for Macc and bring massive amounts of experience and playing ability and I`m sure you`d like to join me in welcoming Parky & Marshall to Priory Park. Added to that, the return from injury of hugely influential prop Tom Mantell, together with the emerging talents of youngsters Ben Jones, Max Smith and Elliott Millar Mills (all of whom have come on leaps and bounds over the latter part of the season and now have the experience of competing in National League 1 ), and The Blues will have a pack to be feared by all those who await in National League 2 North. Add that to the potentency The Blues backs have been showing recently and you have a brand of rugby to bring smiles to all the Priory Park faithful.
