NATIONAL LEAGUE 2 NORTH KICK OFF!
The Blues kick off their League campaign with a tough encounter at strongly fancied Stourbridge on Saturday. The Black Country men have recruited heavily in the close season, apparently intent on a return to National League 1 after several seasons in League 2. To this end, they have bulked up the pack and signed some speedy backs, so The Blues couldn’t have asked for a tougher start to the season. For those planning on travelling to Stourbridge, they play at;
BLUES THROUGH TO SEMI FINAL
Last Saturday saw Macc take on Wirral RUFC in a Cheshire Cup Quarter final, with The Blues eventually overcoming a physical and determined home side, by 22 – 17, scoring 3 tries to 1. There were several new faces on show, and a few familiar faces missing, which meant the Macc Lads struggled at times to produce any continuity, but there were signs of what this team can produce and also things to work on. The reward for overcoming Wirral is another away tie, this time at local rivals Sandbach – match to be played over the weekend of October 31st, November 1st (watch this space).
Mazzer on the charge! Try time!
Kingy`s first of the season (lets hope it`s 1st of many). Another new face, Jamie Anthony beats his man

All games kick off at 3.00pm

ASSISTANCE REQUIRED WITH JOB.
We are in negotiations with a player coming back to England after playing in New Zealand and he could do with a job in the area. He`s currently working as a painter & decorator in N.Z. but is open to other offers. He has a British Passport so no worries with work permits. If you can help, please contact me in the first instance. firstname.lastname@example.org and I`ll forward his C.V.
You`ll be pleased o know that the `new` pitches (over the bank) are looking lush and ready for the new season. As mentioned previously, there has been extensive work carried out since the end of last season and the results are there to see. As with any recently worked on areas, there are bound to be stones etc. that rise to the surface – can I, therefore, ask the coaches of teams likely to be using these pitches, to have a walk over the areas prior to playing and pick up any stones you may find.
As you may be aware, Bob Jenner has taken on the task of writing up the history of our club and has made some great progress thanks particularly to several of our `older members`. However, there are some important details missing and if you could assist in any way, especially with the following, please contact me and I`llpass on your details to Bob.
1. The first recorded games of Rugby played in Macclesfield area – late 1800s – were played on the Boughley Lane Ground, Adlington. Does anyone know where this is, Boughley Lane doesn’t seem to exist nowadays.
2. In the late 1920s the Club practised and played at Trinity Wesleyan Ground, off London Road. Do you know where this is/was??
3. Later they played on the Congleton Road Ground, again does anyone know where that was?
4. Finally they established headquaters at the Cock Inn Henbury and played on a field near there, I think, does anyone know where?
5. All this preceded the club moving to Fallibroome (for the first time), I suspect they were using farmers fields rather than a formal Playing Ground but it would be interesting to know one way or another and it would fill in a bit more of the really old history.
