From The Chair 33

He’s Big – He’s Bad…It must be Marshall Gadd!

Macclesfield Blues v. Huddersfield, Top v. Bottom…should have been a stroll in the park?  No way. Huddersfield were organised, determined and showed fantastic resolve in belying their League position on Saturday, and The Blues had to wait until the last play of the game to score the all important bonus point try.  A brace of tries for both Matt King & Elliott Brierley plus a conversion from Lewis Barker secured the win and leaves The Blues needing 10 points from 5 games to ensure the League title and gain automatic promotion.  Easy, I hear you say…anything but.  With 2nd placed Sedgley Park next up for The Macc Lads on Saturday, and then local derbies against Chester & Sale (both scrapping to get clear of the drop zone) followed by ambitious Stourbridge, The Blues are going to need all your support to see them across the line.

Kingy bags the 5 pointer right on time!
Jordan decides to take on 4 defenders!

This Saturday 9th April is a big day for the Blues, if we beat Sedgley Park and they don’t earn any bonus points then we will win the league.

We are offering all our loyal Blues supporters a chance to be there and involved with the action as for just £18 plus entry you can watch the game, enjoy a full English breakfast and secure your place on our coach to Sedgley Park.

A full English Breakfast will be served at 12.00pm  and our supporters coach will leave at 1.00pm in order to arrive at Sedgley Park in time for kick off at 2.30pm.

We are offering the same deal for the trip to Heywood Road on April 23rd when The Blues take on Sale.  If you are unable to attend the Blues at Sale, then why not take advantage of our arrangement with Macc Town Football Club & get a half price ticket for the Silkmen v. Cheltenham?  Just take your MRUFC membership card to Moss Rose, use Danny Ackerly as reference and take advantage of this offer.

For more information on this event and to secure your place please contact Jonathan on , 07841 114894 or 01625 827899 .

In the meantime show your support to the Blues on twitter by hashtaging #backingmacc!

It is with great sadness, that I have to advise you of the passing of Peter Hollinson last week.  Peter was the father of Mark & Pete Hollinson and was a long serving auditor of MRUFC back in the day, as well as being a Life Vice President of Macclesfield RUFC.  Our sincere condolences to Mark and the rest of the family at this sad time.

Congratulations to Head Coach, Giles Heagerty and wife Nadia on the birth of Arun Harding Heagerty last week.  Baby weighed in at 7lbs 13 oz. and both Mum & baby are doing well (not sure about Giles…he looked knackered last night!)

We now have a dart board in the lounge for use of members and guests.  If anyone fancies organising a fun league between teams, please contact Jonathan in the office.  This also applies for dominoes, crib etc.  – who knows, we could even enter teams into the Pub Leagues!
