Blues 43-16 DMP

Macclesfield Blues ran in six tries as they comfortably dispatched DMP 43-16 at Priory Park. Desperately needing a win to ease any talk of relegation, the Blues were on top form at home.

The match started evenly and the deadlock was broken on the 10th minute through a penalty from the visitors. Macc were in the lead one minute later after Nick Allsop sniped over from close range. The match then turned into a stop start affair, littered with penalties and scrums.

DMP added a second penalty on the 21st minute to retake the lead. In a case of Déjà vu, the Blues retook the lead two minutes later. Liam Parfitt driving over from a maul in the corner. The visitors struck a third penalty on the 26th minute. Macc added a third try after Sam Moss drove over from a maul to make the score 17-9 at half time.

Macclesfield came out the blocks quickly pinning back DMP inside their own 22 and were rewarded with a penalty try, wrapping up the bonus point with over half an hour to go. Macc maintained the control and pressure and after winning a turnover inside the visitors 22, Macc produce some slick hands to allow Myles Hall to go over under the posts.

The visitors then produced a similar move to score their first try of the match, through Radwan. However, Macc were soon on the front foot and pilling on the pressure and Ryan Parkinson continued his rich scoring run, dotting over from the back of a scrum. Hall then added his second of the match on 70 minutes, after some great work from Jordan Brookes. This made the score 43-16 to the Blues, and their first win since week two.

Here Tommy Taylor (Defence Coach) gives his views on the match. The lads now head into a well-deserved break, and face Blackburn up at Ramsgreave Drive in a fortnight.
