The Blues came up short on Saturday and suffered a heavy defeat at Blackheath – 55 – 10

The 3rd team sent Warrington home defeated – 27 – 12

The 4th team enjoyed a close win at Trafford Metrovick – 12 – 17


This Weekend

Top v Bottom this Saturday as the Blues invite Hartbury to Macclesfield. Hartbury have yet to drop a point this season. Our boys will want to put an end to that! 3.00ko

After a weekend off, eating mince pies, the Lions are fully refreshed and are looking forward to the trip to Chester. This will be the last match before the league splits. 1.00ko

It will be a tight match for the 3rd team as Blackburn visit. There are only three points between the two. 2.15ko

Oswestry will by fighting to keep above the relegation zone when table toppers MRUFC come to town. 2.15ko


Kings Old Boys v Macclesfield

Like Rugby, But Slower

Friday 23rd December sees what is becoming, the Annual Christmas Charity Challenge Match between Kings School Old Boys and a Macclesfield Invitation XV. 

Kick-off is at 7.15pm, entry is free so please give generously to the collection for East Cheshire Hospice & Teenage Cancer Trust.  Bar open from 6.00pm, food is available, raffle draw and all the fun of seeing people who should know better, playing rugby and enjoying themselves.

Interestingly, there will be 4 sets of brothers playing for Kings, all of whom also played for Macclesfield; Dan and Jake Percival, Johnny (played for Oxford vs Cambridge this week) and Ben Marsden, James and Jonathan Keep, Will and Andrew Hodgson

The Annual Lads’ and Dads – Sunday 18th December 11 am onwards…..

The annual Lads and Dads fun and games will take place Sunday 18th December.  The coaches (and anyone else wishing to) will dress in the theme of Pantomime Dames / Characters, (and councillors will be on hand to deal with anyone adversely affected by this act).  There will be fun and games where the Lads take on the Dads on the pitch (trained first aid personnel will be available for Dads who suffer bruised pride during this event.

Following the games we will retire to the bar, and coaches will be invited to sing (murder) some Christmas Jingles (again, Councillors will be on hand for those in need).  Of course the main event will be The MEGA 500 Club Draw (£800 of prizes to be given away) in the bar.


Leaf Blower

It looks as if the Clubs leaf blower has been ‘borrowed’. If you have any idea of its whereabouts, please contact the club on 01625 827899.


RFU Safeguarding

In light of recent media coverage around safeguarding in football, we wanted to remind staff of the RFU’s safeguarding policy and procedures.

The RFU is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children in rugby. We have worked closely with the Child Protection In Sport Unit (CPSU) within NSPCC to develop robust policy and procedures to safeguard children, achieving the CPSU’s National Advanced Standards for safeguarding and protecting children in sport.

We work closely with all our clubs and statutory agencies to ensure that safeguarding children is prioritised. Any allegation, suspicion of harm or concern is taken seriously and responded to swiftly, fairly and appropriately.

REPORTING AN INCIDENT

Any person involved in rugby union, including all RFU employees, must report all safeguarding concerns of which they become aware to the RFU Safeguarding Team

The team is always happy to offer advice and chat through any areas of uncertainty.

  • The RFU has a full-time professional Safeguarding Team including a Designated Lead Officer for safeguarding.
  • The RFU works with Local Children Safeguarding Boards throughout England.
  • The RFU has jurisdiction to deal with any allegation of abuse of a child, any breach of Safeguarding Policy and/or any breach of Regulation 21.
  • Each club with a mini and/or junior section must have a Club Safeguarding Officer

Christmas Art Competition

Each Mini player is invited to draw, colour or create in another way (even a computer) a Christmassy poster for display in the club.

Please put name and age group on the back.  Get to the club FAO Jonathan (or simply stick on the wall with come blue tack!)

The more Christmassy the better 🙂

At Lads and Dads we will pick the best THREE, and the winners will receive an Opro Self Fit Mouthguard (7-Adult) and their picture in the newsletter / on the website.
