The Blues put up a good fight, especially when down to 14 men but, were overpowered by the might of Hartpury. It was, by no means a walk over. 12 – 62
The Lions suffered a rare defeat at Chester, they still finished the year at the top though. 31 – 29

The 4th team remain in the promotion zone even though they failed to raise a team on Saturday.

Christmas Opening Hours
The club will be open for various events over the festive period but, the office will be closed from lunchtime 21st December until 4th January. If you have any enquiries please contact Jonathan on 07841 114894.
Some items have been stolen from the changing rooms in the past few weeks. It is a sad reflection of human nature that criminals choose our, family funded club to ply their trade.
Can we all be extra vigilant in the future please? Nobody should be entering our club unless we know who they are, do not hesitate to question anyone who is acting suspiciously. Please give extra attention to the fire door that opens onto the car park, this door is left open to allow booted players access to the toilets during games. No one else should need access.
Let us hope we do not suffer a reoccurrence.
Former Player’s Lunch
The pre match lunch on 4th February, prior to the Cambridge match is dedicated to the Former Players of MRUFC. Although nearly all tables are now taken, there are still a few places left. Please contact Geoff Rushton if you don’t want to miss out on a fantastic day.
Guess the Score
This week’s winner was Mavis Immer with a very close predicted score of 13 – 62. Mavis receives £50. Congratulations.
The Annual Lads’ and Dads – Sunday 18th December 11 am onwards…..
The annual Lads and Dads fun and games will take place Sunday 18th December. The coaches (and anyone else wishing to) will dress in the theme of Pantomime Dames / Characters, (and councillors will be on hand to deal with anyone adversely affected by this act). There will be fun and games where the Lads take on the Dads on the pitch (trained first aid personnel will be available for Dads who suffer bruised pride during this event.
Following the games we will retire to the bar, and coaches will be invited to sing (murder) some Christmas Jingles (again, Councillors will be on hand for those in need). Of course the main event will be The MEGA 500 Club Draw (£800 of prizes to be given away) in the bar.
If you have anything of interest that we can include in the weekly newsletter, please contact Jonathan – email@example.com.
Word documents are fine, try to include any photos too.
Since Craig Price took the wind out of everyone’s sails with his photo from the top of his Hong Kong hotel, we have not had any further entries (could have been superimposed). Don’t despair, the award will not be awarded just for distance travelled, points can be earned for guile and cunning too. We’ve not seen a cup at an opposing clubhouse yet for example.
Keep up the good work.
Kings Old Boys v Macclesfield
Like Rugby, But Slower
Friday 23rd December sees what is becoming, the Annual Christmas Charity Challenge Match between Kings School Old Boys and a Macclesfield Invitation XV.
Kick-off is at 7.15pm, entry is free so please give generously to the collection for East Cheshire Hospice & Teenage Cancer Trust. Bar open from 6.00pm, food is available, raffle draw and all the fun of seeing people who should know better, playing rugby and enjoying themselves.
Interestingly, there will be 4 sets of brothers playing for Kings, all of whom also played for Macclesfield; Dan and Jake Percival, Johnny (played for Oxford vs Cambridge this week) and Ben Marsden, James and Jonathan Keep, Will and Andrew Hodgson
PLAQUES AND THEIR PLACE IN HISTORY
There is a lot of the Clubs history screwed to the walls of the stairwell entrance. Now they hang there doleful and silent and yet when they were presented to the Club it was to commemorate some game, event, occasion and these are full of memories for those that were there (and can remember being there!). I am expanding the Clubs history to gather some of these memories whilst they are still available. If anyone has any background to any of the plaques please get in touch (via Jonathan) and I’ll arrange to capture their memories on video or audio.
To start with I have a few copies that it would be interesting to get more information on.
I imagine someone who toured the US that year might know a little more? And I suspect a former Chariman of the Mini/Junior section knows more about this one….
