Due to work pressure and further commitments with Lancashire and England Rugby, Howard has stepped down from his role as 1st Team Manager. He will be greatly missed by all, his dedication to the team and the club are second to none. His knowledge of the intricate details of the game are legendary. I am sure that all members would like to express their thanks for the support that Howard has given us over the years.
If anyone has any suggestions for a replacement, please contact Giles – firstname.lastname@example.org
At a recent Kicking Masterclass, held in December at Sale Sharks High Performance Centre, the Community coaches picked one lucky attendee from the camp to have a one-on-one kicking clinic with one of our Sharks players.
We’re delighted to announce that Oliver Davies of Macclesfield RUFC U11’s is the lucky winner of the clinic.
Ollie is flying high in the U11’s following hard on his older brothers footsteps; Will Davies (Macclesfield and Cheshire U16’s, Sale U16’s Academy) and Alex Davies (Macclesfield U14’s, Cheshire DPP and Kings School Cheshire Cup winning team). All boys have gained their love of rugby playing at MRUFC since being 5 years old.
There were over 70 attendees at the camp, and our coaches were looking for one participant that stood out in terms of ability and coachability.
Darren Lamon, who led the coaching on the day, said: “The standard of the young players at the camp was exceptionally high, and it was incredibly hard to pick a winner, However Oliver really impressed myself and the other coaches, with his core skills, and came up with some really impressive games to play. Plus, he interacted with our young Academy players, and got some good advice of them to find out how he can progress.”
Stay tuned over the next month, as we keep you up to date with Oliver’s one-on-one clinic.
We are now in possession a plethora of top quality, navy blue Puma shorts. They are not to be worn whilst representing the club but are ideal for training etc. They are available in a variety of sizes and they are very, very cheap.
£3 each or £5 for two. £20 for ten or more. We don’t expect them to last long, so get them while you can! Contact Jonathan for more information.
Mike Keeling has donated the most amazing piece of rugby memorabilia that we will be selling at the Annual Sports Dinner this April. You may be running out of room in your attic, garage or bedroom and want to make way for your new Farrah Fawcett poster or David Cassidy autographed, tie-dry, t-shirt. If so, please bear us in mind. We would gladly accept any donations of sporting memorabilia to be auctioned or raffled for the benefit of the club. The club will reciprocate in kind.
Tie on the Telly
No ‘travelling mug’ entries this week. Thought that there may be a photo of a mug next to a Xmas pud or in Grandads hand as he snoozes through the Queen’s speech.
Never mind, who can beat Spenny on breakfast telly last week proudly sporting his club colours?
