In Touch 27

Last Weekend

Hull Ionians secured five points at home even though the Blues opened the scoring. 45 – 21

The Lions reclaimed top spot after a tight win at Caldy. 22 – 25

The 4th team lost their place in the cup losing to Broughton away. 29 – 19

This Weekend

The Blues travel to Darlington this Saturday. Mowden Park will be keen to get a result after a 7 try to 1 drubbing at Priory Park in November. KO 3.00pm

Sale FC visit Macclesfield. Sale enjoyed a surprising win at Heywood Road earlier in the season. KO 2.15pm

The 3rd team take a trip to Crewe & Nantwich looking to put pressure on the league leaders. KO 2.15pm

Hayden Bowen

Hayden is seriously ill with pancreatic cancer which has already spread to other organs. He is currently in Wythenshawe hospital after being transferred from Macclesfield, to try for a procedure which could lengthen his expected life span but, it is proving difficult to carry out. We are hoping he will be home soon so he can spend some last precious time with Sue and his family. In spite of all that’s going on inside, he is in no pain and quite chirpy, mostly because he can’t understand the prognosis. We are hoping that this means that he will be able to have visitors, at least to begin with, which will really be important to him.

Auto Barrier

A special thanks to James Jennings for taking the time and effort to repair the barrier after it was dismantled by Doris last week.

News from the Curator

The project to collate, digitise and publicise MRUFCs rich history has today taken a small but significant step forward (to paraphrase – it is one small step in history but one giant leap across the centuries!). Our history timeline is accessible here: https://macclesfieldrufc.co.uk/wordpress/the-club/mrufc-history/

Thanks to Jason Walker and his company (Search & More) we have implemented a Timeline – via the Menu go to the ‘history’ option. This provides a timeline of significant events in the club’s history in easy to consume format.

Inevitably the first release is heavy on very distant history and light on very recent history so if anyone wants to update it please get in touch via Jonathan initially.

Enjoy the journey.

Planning application

Please take a little time to respond to the club’s planning application. We have over 400 adult members and we need every one commenting, Rope your friends and family in too. This is one of the most important things to happen to the club and everyone’s opinion is valuable.

It is very easy and will not take up much time.
