Premiership Deciding Game – Support your Lions on Saturday!

Support your Lions on Saturday as they attempt to win a record breaking 3rd league title in a row!

Your support is needed, following a full league season the Lions have a title deciding match against closest rivals Sedgley Park at Priory Park on Saturday with a 3pm kick off.

After having been top of the Premier League half way through the season the Lion’s again find themselves at the top of the Conference A league having only lost 1 game to Sedgley Park who have yet to loose in the Conference.

The Lions have to win on Saturday by a greater margin of 17 points to keep their dream alive of 3 Conference A league titles in a row, this never having been achieved previously even by the all conquering Lions team of 7 and 8 years ago that included players of the quality of Bostock, Goodfellow, Lear, Macey and Rice.

The Lions have scored over 1000 points this season and having conceded less than 300 are blessed with some fantastic attacking players along side one of the meanest defences in the league. They will need all of this to overcome the points deficit created by the last meeting with Sedgley shortly after Christmas when they were defeated 27-10, if both teams finish on the same points then the winner is determined by points difference of head to head matches form the conference game.

Over the past 10 years this league has regularly been contested by these 2 teams with Macclesfield having won it 5 times and Sedgley 4 so history is on our side but come Saturday afternoon that will count for nothing and these 2 juggernauts of the intermediate leagues lock horns to decide who will be champions this season.

Reports from Sedgley confirm that they have all players back from injury and available for the game and the Lions will also be at full strength so a titanic battle is expected to take place on the main pitch and we need you to cheer the Lions on to a famous victory.

Why not come down early and indulge in the fantastic pies on offer in the pre-match dinner.
