Rugby Notes from ‘Clubman’
With the teams in National One and Two North taking a break on Saturday after a hectic start to the campaign it was left to the Lions and the Third teams to fly the flag for Macclesfield Rugby last Saturday and I took the opportunity, along with many others, to watch the Lions (2nd XV) at Priory Park as they took on table topping Chester Seconds in their Cotton Traders Premier League encounter.
In an entertaining and open game the Lions were undone by the pace of the Chester threequarters and a couple of wayward kicks that ‘gifted’ the opposition two tries as they ended up narrow losers by 22-21 in a game that they could just as easily have won after losing heavily at Chester in the opening game of the season back in September and they will hopefully return from the Lancashire coast this weekend with a ‘W’ when they visit Fylde.
Please note that the Colts game against Littleborough is now to be played at Priory Park on Sunday at 2.00pm

Any questions please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
We have just two tables left for the lunch prior to the Luctonians match on the 9th December. This is going to be great fun with comedian Scott Bennett entertaining the diners. So whether you can get some friend together or you just want to come on your own, make sure you book with Jonathan as soon as you can.
We are happy to announce that Stephen Branch has been appointed Club Honorary Secretary and will start the takeover process with immediate effect.
Thanks go to Tim Peakman for 5 impeccable years in the role. Tim has accepted a work position further afield and will not be able to devote the time required at the rugby club.
We are delighted to announce that Stephen Branch has agreed to be the new club secretary. An open process was followed that attracted interest from five people, two of whom were interviewed. Both candidates had excellent backgrounds, ideal for the administration of a rugby club and, as well as Stephen, we are hoping to involve the other candidate in various activities in the near future.
Tim Peakman, the outgoing secretary, will support Stephen as he moves in to the role and continue to provide support to the chairman and committee on an ad hocbasis.
