Passing of Ted Roberts

 It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Ted Roberts, father of Bill Roberts, father in law of Bev and Grandfather to Ian, Edward, Josh & Jacob.

Ted was one of the club`s oldest members and until ill health prevented him, he could always be seen watching the 1st team from behind the posts at the Priory Lane end.  Although he never played for the Club he was a keen player at school and represented Kings School first team in the second row during the mid 1940s. Ted began watching Macclesfield at the old Tytherington ground in the mid 70`s  when Bill was a member of The Colts, then followed Bill as he played in the successful  1st team of the early 80`s, right through until Bill retired from rugby.   Ted continued  watching and supporting Macclesfield Rugby Club, watching the first team and also grandsons Ian, in the senior sides and Edward and Josh in the mini junior age groups.

Our thoughts are with Bill, Bev, Ian, Edward, Josh & Jacob through this difficult time.  Ted`s funeral is at Macclesfield Crematorium on Friday 31st August at 11.20.
