A Sponsor’s Story – Money Guru

The story of MRUFC’s main sponsor, Managing Director of the Quint Group, Mike Ransom, started some years ago as an 8 year old in the Mini section. After graduating from the Colts, Mike had several very successful seasons as a quicksilver Scrum Half for the 1stXV. Three young sons in the Mini & Junior sections has kept his continued involvement with the Club whilst coaching the under 10s squad. Mike says: “I’ve always been passionate about rugby, and I was delighted to get really involved with the Club as their main partner. I think that there’s a huge amount of momentum at present; both on and off the field, which is a great credit to everyone involved”.

Quint was formed in 2009 and MD Mike Ransom launched the consumer brand MoneyGuru.com, just a few years ago from their Macclesfield HQ. As a major team member of the Mini & Junior section Mike identified the job Macclesfield Rugby Club could do to position their brand into the Macclesfield community.

MoneyGuru.com is an award winning comparison site, already with over 3 million visitors, providing financial wisdom to people looking for credit cards, loans, current accounts, mortgages etc. They are a growing brand for Macclesfield employing 125 people at the Oxford Road HQ and also have offices in California, Australia, South Africa and China.

MoneyGuru.com had the pleasure of being the match-day sponsors on Saturday in the fierce contest with Alnwick. Mike had the pleasure of picking the man-of-the-match, which he had no hesitation on awarding the MOM Tankard to Myles Hall for his last minute try-saving tackle in the final play of the game.

The Club is delighted that Mike who we have known well over the years has chosen to be partnered with us and we look forward to a long and fruitful association together.
