Macclesfield Ladies 45, Moore Ladies 22 points.
Macclesfield were bolstered by the return of some key players from injury and were delighted to win their second development fixture of the season. The ladies now play in the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Development Merit Table. This means that they have an opportunity to play regular fixtures throughout the season.
They’ve been working hard in training under Coach Simon Dempsey, assisted by his son Max and friend Louis Grey, both students at Preston College. Our ladies were tested defensively but excellent tackling by Hayley Marshall and Amanda Rosser held the team from Moore at bay, then an interception by Amy Redfern, who ran from her own 22, to dot down between the posts for the opening try after 8 minutes.
Macc then went from strength-to-strength, plenty more line-breaks and further interceptions led to tries by Beth Rimmer-Kent, Rosser and Kirsty Wallis.
All in all every player made a huge contribution; it was an enormous confidence booster. They’ve improved hugely between every match. Captain Mary Thorpe and Dempsey were delighted with their improved skill sets.
The Ladies train every Tuesday evening at Priory Park, any new players interested please contact Mary on email@example.com
