Chairman’s Statement on Membership

Dear All,

A massive thank you for your support to our Rugby Club, especially as we continue to manage our way through the limitations on our lives and livelihoods caused by the restrictions implemented as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

With regard to the payment of subscriptions we are very grateful to all those individuals and families who have paid their membership before the 1st October deadline. My plea is that those who have yet to pay please do so at your earliest convenience. The process is simple and flexible. If there are reasons why you are unable to pay then please contact Bob Cooke, Secretary, and he will review the matter confidentially. At this time, when many individuals, families and businesses may be hard pressed due to the pandemic, the club will look favorably on cases of genuine need and we will do what we can to retain players and members across the club family providing they were fully paid up members in the previous season.

The club is operating within the guidelines both on and off the pitch and through Priory Park Venue. Bar facilities and food & beverage are available on Thursday evenings (Club night) and on Saturdays. We have held and will continue to hold events and functions. We are generating limited income through 3rd party hires of the club’s facilities. The junior club is ‘open for business’ on Sundays. The seniors can train in the week and play limited format rugby on Saturdays and we have continued with projects to improve the changing facilities and so on.

There is a cost to the club in staying open for business and in continuing to improve our facilities and we have asked that the Junior section now pay full membership and that the senior club pay £90 social membership until rugby returns.

We felt this was a balanced and reasonable request and would ask that people embrace it and pay their dues.

In the past there has been a small minority of people who have felt they should receive the benefits of membership but without paying either to be members of the club or match fees. This behavior undermines the club and disrespects the vast majority who contribute fully to membership of the club. It also falls well outside the code of conduct of the sport. To those people I would simply ask you to search your consciences and contribute along with the majority. It is about honesty and integrity and not something that the club should have to spend much needed time and money on policing especially at this very challenging time.

Thank you again for your support and let’s hope we get back to more normal times soon.

Happy Birthday, @IamAustinHealey! 🥳 We could share one of his tries, but instead we thought we'd show you him boxing @BenKay5 and @dallaglio8 🤷‍♂️ We've absolutely no idea how this got past compliance. #RugbyTonight
