Another big night of TV and award-winning comedians are coming to Macclesfield !

Friday 8th April will see another star-studded line-up of comedians performing at StandUp Macclesfield at Macclesfield Rugby Club.

The monthly comedy club, sponsored by local brewers Redwillow Brewery, has gone from strength to strength since its launch last summer, each month attracting some of the biggest and best comedians in the UK, and next month is no different!

MC for the evening is regular host Jonathan Mayor. A multi award winner in his own right, he is often called upon by Sarah Millican to provide TV warm up and tour support.

Opening the show is cult comedy legend Joey Page. Page can be seen headlining comedy shows around the country and can be heard every Wednesday on his FUBAR Radio show. Supporting the likes of Josie Long and Noel Fielding and with TV appearances on BBC 3’s comedy marathon, Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy and Nevermind The Buzzcock’s, Page is well qualified in all that is comic!

In the monthly new talent spot, where newer acts are given a chance to shine, Jonny Brook takes to the stage. A breakthrough talent Jonny has been speedily climbing the comedy ladder and comes recommended from some of the biggest clubs in the UK.

Headliner for the night is Gavin Webster. After making his modest debut in a pub in Gateshead in February 1993 he’s done about three thousand gigs from Aberdeen to Abu Dhabi, Manchester to Melbourne and Hartlepool to Hong Kong. The mighty Ross Noble has described him as “a cross between Bill Hicks and Geoff off Byker Grove”. Hard edged routines, quick-fire pastiche pieces, moronic jokes and sardonic songs, his unique style has brought huge praise and attention and seen him appear on Nevermind The Buzzcocks (BBC2) The Stand-up Show (BBC1), Does Doug Know (Channel 4) Take The Mike (ITV), The Eleven O Clock show (Channel 4), The Comedy Store, Comedy Blue (Paramount/Comedy Central) and The World Stand Up Tour (Comedy Central USA).

Promoter Kev Rook who runs Nodding Dog Comedy (the company that put on this monthly night) is genuinely excited. “We work hard to bring comedians to the club that you would usually have to travel to big cities and venues to see. At Macclesfield it is up close and personal and the rugby club is a great venue for these intimate shows. April is going to be fantastic and in Gavin and Joey, once again we are bringing you two of the very best out there!”.

Tickets are on sale now, performances are for over 18’s only and the doors open at 7pm with showtime at 8pm.

You can book your seat for a fantastic feast of funny by calling promoter Kev Rook on 07575698080 or going to www.noddingdogcomedy.com.
