Macclesfield Rugby Club Golf Day 2022

The annual Rugby Club Golf day took place on a glorious summers day at the prestigious Tytherington  Club, one of the rugby clubs closest and longest standing partners. The course was magnificent, as ever with 20 teams of eager beavers ready to play for the honour of being the club champions for 2022. Much grumbling by John Calendar as his team was starting furthest from the bar, thus reducing his drinking time.

The event was supported by many, many businesses who made the day so enjoyable. Spiral colour printed all the signs, prizes donated by local businesses and most importantly people giving up their time to support the rugby club.

Bollington Brewery sponsored the £500 hole in 1 challenge hole, supported by club legends Bill Knocker & Terry Robson, who I understand drank their own body weight in IPA whilst sat in a collapsing gazebo 😊

The golf was very mixed, Tony King, Wilky & John Tom’s struggling to find their way to the hole, fortunately they are members of Tytherington and can do it all again & again & again. Peter McNulty hitting the 12:35 London train from the tee, Did Jones playing a low game (that suits him) and Harry Oliver hitting the ball sideways. Loosing it and then asking his Dad for another ball so he can do the same again !

Longest Drive was won for the 4th year in succession, Brian Willis (Massive club supporter) who drove all the way from Southport to be with us. (c135 mile round trip – a big hit)

The eventual winners were The Directors Choice, Captained by Johnathan Copper, supported by Will Davies, Andy Vass and Ross Harper just beating off JAK Steel & The Admiral Rodney teams into 2nd & 3rd places – well done all.

The drinking games were won by ex plyer and World Body Building Champion Eden “1/2 pint” Massey supported by the immortal Colin Joyce, who did look confused throughout the whole day. Wilky did a magnificent job of the auction with some fantastic prizes being won. Thanks to Franklyn Wealth Management for their ongoing support.

We all then proceeded into the open arms of Gill at The Admiral Rodney where “The Winners Lounge” was created, John Calendar fell asleep, Oliver Wilson ordered a curry for 16 people, Harry Oliver went home early, Will Davies didn’t and we all lived happily ever after.

I have taken the time to list the supporters of the day, so if you can support them back with business that’s what makes the world go round.
