Kirkby Lonsdale Preview

Thursday night’s training session, was finished off with an added-value feature with an Evening with Tommy Taylor, a modern day Macc Rugby legend, Sale Sharks, England Saxons, Wasps, England and now back at Sharks. Tommy entertained the 1st team squad and Colts with his story of Macc Minis to playing for England and insights into being a professional rugby player in the Premiership. The boys will be able to reflect as they travel up to the scenic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale.

Kirkby are having a difficult time, so far this season. They have yet to recover from the devastation of Covid when many players retired from the Club. Their team is rebuilding, it’s a young side made up of many players straight from the Colts, but they will have their own particular bond from playing together. There is no way that Head Coach, Ben Wade will be taking it lightly he has assembled a strong team and will be making sure that the boys put in a 100% performance for the full 80 minutes. They will want to play at their best as they prepare for the next big game, against Lymm the following Saturday at Priory Park.

The really good news in the team for Saturday, is the return of Jordon Simpson (Simmo) who has been out for a whole year will be champing at the bit to get back in the game, he will start at 7. If you’re travelling up to Kirkby, set off early as it’s a 1.30 pm kick off. Otherwise it’s 3.00 pm next week for the big Lymm game, there will be a lunch before hand, come and join in the craic!

The team for Saturday is: 1. Dan Percival, 2. Marcus Pyle, 3. James Cross, 4. Harry Harding, 5. Rhys Davies, 6. Elliot Alston, 7. Seb Pemberton, 8. James Oliver, 9. Louis Singleton, 10. Charlie Attis, 11. Dan Martin, 12. Sam Broster, 13. Harry Oliver, 14. Lloyd Smith Coates, 15. Tom Jennings; 16. Elliot Alston, 17. Brendan Berry, 18. Phil Laing.
