Lymm Preview

By David Wilkinson

Lymm currently has the bragging-rites over Macclesfield, winning both home and away last season, although both were very close encounters. So far this season the Lymm team has been in sparkling form, the only loss coming at the hands of the league leaders up at Blackburn. Macclesfield’s poor start is now consigned to the rubbish bin; all focus is now concentrated on continuing the momentum and staying professional in their attitude on the pitch.

Head Coach, Ben Wade, will be beating the drum for the players to give 100% for the full 80 minutes. If there is a team that can capitalise in lapses in concentration, and gaps in the defensive line, it is Lymm. Their fast, 3G track, back at home, has helped to create a style of play that can catch teams napping. They like to attack down the middle, and when they do create a gap they are very good at flooding players through it with fast support play. Macclesfield will want to dominate the set-piece and territory and have more than enough of their own fire-power to cause Lymm plenty of problems.

Neither team will be underestimating the challenge on Saturday; Lymm President Neil Kelly saying: “We are expecting a very tough encounter”. Equally the Macclesfield Coaches and team will see this as their toughest challenge yet, but they will be using that to their advantage and will be looking for their sixth win on the bounce.

On the downside Macclesfield will be without Captain James Oliver (injured), and Jordon Simpson, who has not escaped a suspension after his harsh two yellow cards at Kirkby Lonsdale. On the upside, Terrence Babarinsa returns at 12, as does Sam Brown to the bench, along with a Tom Burden, after a long injury lay-off. Everything is set for a highly competitive game with eyes around the league looking for the result, after Macc’s Blackburn scalp.

Usual 3.00 pm kick-off, please come and give your support to the boys; it gives them a massive lift, as their 16th man. The team is: 1. Dan Percival, 2. Marcus Pyle, 3. James Cross, 4. Harry Harding, 5. Rhys Davies, 6. Elliot Alston, 7. Seb Pemberton, 8. Brendan Berry, 9. Danny Martin, 10. Charlie Attis, 11. Sam Broster, 12. Terence Babarinsa, 13. Harry Oliver, 14. Lloyd Smith-Coates, 15. Tom Jennings; 16. Louis Singleton, 17. Tom Burden, 18. Sam Brown.
