As I type, the big Christmas game is on at Bradwall Road Sandbach. The ground has been covered with a huge fleece, loaned to them by a local farmer, which the massed membership will remove at 9.45 on Saturday, so fingers-crossed!
Competition between our locals rivals has always been close, although in the past this has mostly been in the Cheshire Cup; where last time at Bradwall Road, Macc sneaked it with the last kick of the game. Sandbach got their revenge at Priory Park, winning the bragging-rites with a 22 – 24 victory, the post being the difference. Macclesfield will go into the contest, with full respect for their opponents, who sit in fourth position, two places above Macclesfield; but they will be going into the game looking for the points.
Macclesfield welcomes back several from injury and availability, as well as Sam Adu, on debut on the Left Wing. Sandbach has a settled team, with ex Macc lad Myles Hall lining up for the first time against Macclesfield. It promises to be a tasty game and a very lively atmosphere. Kick-off is 2.15, come and have some pre Christmas rugby-fun, and get behind the team, they’ll thank you for it.
The team is: 1. Dan Percival, 2. Tom Burden, 3. James Cross, 4. Harry Harding, 5. Rhys Davies, 6. Brendan Berry, 7. Phil Laing, 8. James Oliver, 9. Danny Martin, 10. Charlie Attis, 11. Sam Adu, 12. Terence Babarinsa, 13. Harry Oliver, 14. Lloyd Smith-Coates, 15. Sam Brown; 16. Louis Singelton, 17. Elliot Alston, 18. Seb Pemberton.
