Burnage Preview

By David Wilkinson

Head Coach, Ben Wade, will want his team to get back into the Winner’s Lounge after a run of three losses: “We have a strong squad to take on Burnage, but we don’t underestimate the challenge. Burnage will see this as a big derby day, and we will need to be at our best. James Oliver is out after a knock to the head at Blackburn, Brendan Berry moves to 8, with Seb Pemberton coming back in at 6.” Sam Broster starts on the bench after not being able to train on Tuesday.

It was a tough day last Saturday at Blackburn, but the boys will know that they didn’t make the best of the limited ball that they got, conditions were very difficult but they will want to click better in attack. Hopefully on Saturday they will not be giving away 20 penalties which should ensure sufficient ball to test the Burnage defence. The war of attrition was costly last week and Rhys Davies takes a bit of a rest on the bench, hopefully the other bumps and bruises have been run off during the week.

It’s all hands to the pump today as we try to clear the pitch of snow to make sure that the improving weather can do its job for Saturday. Before the game there will be a special Sponsors and Volunteers lunch to reward, award and generally thank all those that help keep the Club in the best of shape and running smoothly.

Kick-off is the usual 3.00pm; please come and give your support if you can, it makes all of the difference to the boys. The team selected is: 1. Dan Percival, 2. Tom Burden, 3. James Cross, 4. Harry Harding, 5. Elliot Alston, 6. Seb Pemberton, 7. Phil Laing, 8. Brendan Berry, 9. Danny Martin, 10. Charlie Attis, 11. Sam Adu, 12. Terence Babarinsa, 13. Harry Oliver, 14. Lloyd Smith-Coates, 15. Sam Brown, 16. Louis Singleton, 17. Rhys Davies, 18. Sam Broster.
