150th Anniversary Season – 2024/2025

For a club founded in  1874 it will not have escaped your notice that next year our Macclesfield Rugby Union Football Club will be 150 years old!  We want to celebrate this anniversary season with a whole programme of events and occasions as well as raise some money for the club in the process.

That is where you come in. I have asked our President Peter Harper to chair a committee to plan all aspects of our anniversary season that will “kick off” in a years-time in September 2024. There will be a cross section of members on the committee to ensure everyone gets a say in just what should happen and be included in our plans for this exciting year in our Club’s history.

I would like anyone who has any ideas of the sort of things that we should consider including in our 150th Anniversary season to contact Pete or me directly with an outline of their idea.  The ideas can be for events, whether dinners, dances, black-tie balls, commemorative matches or anything you feel should be included.

We look forward to hearing from you with your thoughts and ideas on how we should celebrate this great milestone in our club’s history.

Only one result to 'round up' today, but it's a crucial 5 points for the 1st XV, who are now top of the table after Rossendale lost over at Stockport. Here Tommy Taylor (Defence Coach) gives his views on the match. The lads now head into a well-deserved break, and face Blackburn up at Ramsgreave Drive in a fortnight. Next weekend it’s all the Guinness Men's Six Nations action on the screens down at Priory Park. 🍻 🏉 tinyurl.com/MRUTV ... See MoreSee Less
