Most has already been said, but for want of repeating myself; this is it, 5 years in the waiting/making, with Penrith standing in our way of a return to National Two rugby, where we want to be. The stats are stacked in our favour, Penrith will admit to themselves that they had a poor start to the season, but more recently have played well at home; they do however have a cup fixture next week against Cleckheaton, and some may have an eye on that. For the Macclesfield players, make no-doubt it is their cup final, a result at all costs.
These were Head Coach Darren Lamond’s thoughts after Tuesday night’s training: “After the Easter break we’ve been back into training like any other week. The boys were completely on-top of Tuesday’s session, virtually doing it themselves; we will now just be looking at a few tweaks on Thursday before finalising the team. If we do go on to win the league it will have been done through a massive squad effort, using 38 players in all; hopefully we will hit the 100 points mark in the league which will be pretty special”.
It will be a massive day at Priory Park, with restricted parking due to the Fair; extra parking is available at Fallibroome School. Get behind your team, one more time this season, and help make it extra special, kick-off is 3.00pm, the team is: Dan Percival, 2. Ollie Longmore, 3. Samir Tahraoui, 4. Rhys Davies, 5. Harry Harding, 6. Elliot Alston 7. Tom Burden, 8. James Oliver – Captain, 9. Dan Martin, 10. Tom Morton, 11. Jamie Harrison, 12. Harry Blackwell, 13. Harry Oliver, 14. Terence Babarinsa, 15. John O’Donnell, 16. James Cross, 17. Phil Laing, 18. Sam Adu.
