The Women’s Team looks to build on recent performances against Ashbourne

By Annie James

This Sunday sees the second  of three games in April that will complete the Women’s team’s season.

Ashbourne travel over from Derbyshire with a large squad and will be looking to build their recent good performances. Ashbourne have recruited phenomenally well over the season and are likely to field two teams on Sunday, so it will be a physical challenge for the Women’s side. The away team have strengths in their forwards and a fly half who marshals the team well. The home side have prepared well, but will miss the organisational skills of Mel Bramley and the skills and power of Katie McCree who are both unavailable. However, the team welcome back Mandy Rosser and Alex Wilson. With back to back wins over Ashbourne and Stormskirk the home side are confident in keeping their undefeated home run going.

Next Tuesday the trial for the Cheshire Women’s team takes place at Chester RUFC and several of the team will travel over to participate. The numbers of players attending demonstrates how far the team has developed over the last two years.

So, if you still need your rugby fix grab a pie and drink and support your Women’s team at 2.00pm on Sunday.
