It will be a first for Macclesfield, against the Bucks Super Rugby students, several of whom have now returned from stints with Exeter, and their DOR Gareth Elliott will be able to bring in the likes of Kane James, Ben Coen and Joe Baile, all 3 of which had been part of the England U20s side who’d lifted the World U20s Championship in South Africa over the summer. The Macc lads will be well up for this contest, they have performed very well in their two opening contests, and will be very grateful for the sponsorship of Branching Out Two (Tim and Sam Broster), which has enabled an overnight before Saturday’s game.
These were Head Coach, Rhys Davies’s thoughts after Thursday’s training session: “We are looking forward to the trip down to Exeter; it will be a great challenge to take on a professional outfit with close ties to the Exeter chiefs. We will have to match the energy and enthusiasm of youth so are delighted to have the evergreen Laingy returning to the squad; it’s also great to have Hector in the squad, a deserved reward for an excellent start to the season. We would all like to say a huge thank you to Branching Out Two for sponsoring the trip down; travelling down the night before makes a massive difference to our preparation.
