Contests, at any level, against Sedgley Park have always been highly competitive, and this one would be no different. In the first half, the Macc lads had scored 3 tries to one, and appeared to be quite comfortable, turning around at 21 – 7; but before the half finished, big Dale Crompton took a tumble injuring his knee. The injury to Dale meant that at the next scrum the legendary Jim Curtis was required to come on the field to Prop; chapeau Jim! Sedge would claw their way back into the contest in the 2nd half, but the 2s, with the help of Big Jim held on.
