It’s been six years since we entertained Fylde at Priory Park. The National Leagues reminded us in their online video post today, featuring all of the scores. The result then was a last-minute penalty kick win for the Lancastrians, 28 – 31. I remember vividly being told off by Billy Beaumont after the game for not giving him a shout-out. Well, he was on the far side of the pitch!

It should be a highly competitive contest, 3rd vs. 4th, with just 3 points separating the teams. Macc are forced to make a couple of changes due to injuries to Sam Adu and Townsend, and Danny Martin gets the rotational spot at 9. The last name on the team sheet will put a smile on many faces, particularly the Keogh family. Ozzie (Austin) is on debut for the first team, after starting his rugby pathway journey with the U6s. He played through all the age groups up to U16 and is currently in the Sale Sharks U18 Academy, after being part of England’s U17 training squad earlier in the year.
Head Coach Rhys Davies was happy after training and excited about the prospect on Saturday: “The boys know what they got wrong against Hoppers, it was something like 14 phases before they strung more than four passes together, and then it clicked with 14 passes leading up to the first score.”
Rhys will want only the good parts from last week’s curate’s egg, and if they can do that, it will be very good to watch. Kick-off is the usual 3.00 pm at Priory Park.
