I am pleased to announce that Vicky Brearley has been appointed as Membership Secretary for the club. Vicky’s role will be to coordinate all matters to do with Membership throughout the club, liaising with the M&Y through the Team Managers and Team Managers and Captains in the senior club. Vicky will have a vital role in preparation and provision of data and information to do with our various categories of membership and member numbers to support the Executive Committee with their planning and budgeting.
As Vicky herself said; “I’ve built up a long-standing connection with Macclesfield Rugby Club over the years. My journey with the club began when my son, Tom, played there from the U7s all the way through to U18s, which meant many weekends spent on the touch-lines pretending I understood the referee’s decisions (I still don’t, but I nod confidently). Not content with just being a supportive parent, I got roped into helping out behind the scenes and ended up serving as Fixture Secretary for the Mini & Youth section for five years. This mainly involved juggling fixtures, emails, and the occasional mild panic when the weather had other plans. It was busy, sometimes chaotic, but always rewarding and it gave me a great appreciation for the effort that goes into keeping grassroots rugby running. These days, I’ve graduated to the role of loyal supporter, following the 1st XV both home and away. I enjoy the atmosphere, the camaraderie, and the shared hope each week that “this will be our game.” Win or lose, it’s always a good day out, and being part of the club community continues to be something I really value (even if my voice doesn’t thank me after a particularly enthusiastic match).
I am very pleased to welcome Vicky to this role and as she is a regular volunteer and longstanding supporter of Macclesfield Rugby wish her luck and every success.
