Specifics for Under 9s
This season is the first season of playing contact matches (from January 2022 onwards) and so tackling is now part of the game. Our aim between September 2021 and January 2022 is to build on the skills learnt over the last year and teach the players the key skills involved in tackling. Our key aim is still to have fun while developing the players as both people and rugby players, all centered around the core values of the game: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.

Player expectations and safety
Macclesfield RUFC Under 9s request that all players must have a responsible parent present for all training and matches.
We are very lucky to have such engaged and well-behaved players. We want a fun, competitive and most importantly safe environment and will therefore be firm in our encouragement of players to stop/listen when a whistle blows, or a coach asks for attention. We expect our players to listen and concentrate and pay attention to the coaches. Please can we ask you to reinforce this message to the players ahead of training or matches.
Many thanks,
Under 9s Coaching Team
